Friday 12 August - Today was our appointment time to meet with the Director General of Health to sign the MOU. Earlier he had said there may be a possibility that he could be out of the country today, but if he was, he would ask a doctor to meet with Margaret and me in his absence. Unfortunately the Director General of Health is out of the country today and so is the doctor he had asked to see us. So we head for the Minister of Health's Office, but he is sitting in Parliament for the day. We did meet the acting Director General of Health - a friendly man who we had met some years previously. Unfortunately he had not been briefed about our return appointment and had no instructions about signing a MOU. We had a very positive meeting with him and it was agreed we would work out the MOU and sign it by email over the ensuing weeks when the Director General of Health and Minister of Health returned to their offices. What a pity! A short walk back into town and we enjoy the beautiful sunset over the harbour, before meeting Lloyd and Angela at the Anchor Inn. Then back to Lloyd's place to stay and pack up ready for the flight back to New Zealand the next morning.
